Elise Estrada's New Video

Posted on July 24, 2010 at 7:55 PM

Hey everyone.

I have some exciting news. Today I booked a music video with Vancouver local Elise Estrada. If you live in Canada, you may know her songs Poisin, Crash and Burn among others. She also is the host of MuchMusic's Love Court. She is about to break into the US with her new album and first leading single "You're So Hollywood".

We start rehearsing for the video on Friday and will be filming throughout the long weekend here in Vancouver. Check out some of Elise's other tracks and videos here on her MySpace as well as a sneak peek at her track from the album.

You can also follow her on Twitter.

HUGE NEWS!

BIG NEWS!

So, my summer plans have completely shifted I thought everyone should know what's going on.

As many of you know, I have been in Vancouver auditioning for shows and things to get set up for the fall. I recently had the opportunity to audition for an upcoming TV show to be filmed in Vancouver for the CW. Its called HELLCATS. Its a show based on a cheerleading squad at a Memphis college/university. It stars Ashley Tisdale (High School Musical) and Aly Michalka (Phil of the Future).

I am over the moon to announce that I have earned a spot on the coveted squad, The Hellcats. This means I will not be returning to Winnipeg this summer to participate in Rainbow Stage's production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. However, I begin rehearsals and filming for the upcoming season this week.

This is biggest thing that has ever happened to me and is a dream come true. Thank you guys for your support throughout everything I have done. From So You Think You Can Dance auditions to shows in Winnipeg and beyond to now, you are all amazing. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

My first rehearsal with the cast of the show is on Monday and I look forward to giving you updates and juicy details from the set!

Talk to you all very very soon!

Two Dance Bag Essentials

Posted on June 11, 2010 at 6:48 PM

Hey guys.

I have discovered two products that have become my gym bag/dance bag essentials. They are called Mr. Fix It and Dragon Ice.

These products come from the line JACK BLACK and can be purchased here:

www.shopmasc.com

Mr. Fix It is the perfect little tool for minor cuts and scraps during a rough day of dance. Split toes and feet are no match for Mr. Fix It. This little bottle is perfect to carry around. Just squeeze directly onto the wound and rub in. This gel contains 55 parts per million of silver which is proven to speed up the healing process. I used it during my last contract at the Citadel on all my mug wounds from Gaston and I have no scars to show for it!

Dragon Ice is the "coolest" thing in my bag. This muscle relief cream feels great on sore muscles after a long rehearsal or hard workout at the gym. With a great natural scent and amazing cooling sensation, your muscles will feel relaxed in no time.

Try them out for yourself!

A little time off...

Posted on June 4, 2010 at 9:10 PM

Hey everyone.

Time for an update as its been a while. I'm currently hanging out in Vancouver for a few days taking a much needed rest after closing Beauty and the Beast in Edmonton on Sunday. We had a great run and finished off a 9 show week with a sold out, receptive and lovely crowd. I had a blast with my cast and hopefully will cross paths with them again.

Coming up are the Kickit recitals which are on June 9th and 10th at the Pantages Playhouse Theatre. Its gonna be a great show and I can't wait to see all my students again and their dances they have all worked so hard on cleaning I'm sure.

June 13th is my Spring Semester Drop-In with Un1te FX. If you haven't responded to the Facebook invite, please do so as space is limited. There are spots available in the beginner AND advanced classes so do one or do both. Both combos will be super fun! $5 per class is the cost.

I'll be on vacation in Vancouver from the 15th of June until I start rehearsals for Joseph at Rainbow in July so don't expect a lot of activity from me but I will keep you posted.

I also want to wish all my happy "Rent"ers who are rehearsing at Rainbow right now a good next couple of weeks. I'm sure you're all gonna kill it!

Until next time,

Tyrell

Exciting News and Upcoming Events

Posted on May 17, 2010 at 2:16 PM

Hey guys. Here is the latest on what I'm up to.

The show has not been extended not due to the overwhelming success but the fact that summer is around the corner. Right now, the remaining shows are at 94% capacity. That means, if you haven't seen the show, and you haven't got tickets... DO IT FAST! They are selling out like crazy. We may add one more show at the end of the run and I will keep you posted as soon as that information is available to me.

I also am teaching a drop in for Un1te FX's Spring Semester when I arrive at home. The class will be on Sunday, June 13th. Beginners start at 3:00 and Inter/Advanced dancers can get their fix at 4:00. Un1te has moved to a new location for this semester at the University of Winnipeg at the Canwest Centre for Theatre and Film at 400 Colony. Great venue and lots of space. Lets fill up both these classes and have a great time. Follow the event like here!

I will also be home for Kickit's two recital days on June 9th and 10th! I can't wait to see all you guys (aka students and parents) whom I miss so much. You better be bringing the heat on stage. I expect nothing less.

That's all for now. Keep checking back for updates and thanks to everyone for your continued support and love while I've been here in Edmonton. It's been great to know you are all behind me.

XO

The show has opened and so far we have had RAGING success. Our opening night on Thursday was performed to a sold out and overwhelming crowd. The response was so wonderful and the show went so well. Thank you to everyone who came to opening night and also came to the gala afterwards and shared your encouragement and kind words with all of the cast.

The show is running until the end of May so don't wait to get your tickets as the audiences are becoming closer and closer to sold out everyday.

Tickets are available here.

Tech Dress, and Previews

Posted on April 30, 2010 at 11:47 AM

Yesterday was our first Tech Dress for Beauty and the Beast at the Citadel Theatre. My costumes are amazing! I can't wait for you guys to see it.

So tech dress for those of you who don't know is when you do your first rehearsal of the show all the way through with full costumes and lights and sounds and effects. It can sometimes be a pretty trying experience because this is the first time you'll experience quick costume changes, choreography in costumes and moving set pieces in costumes.

It went so well with only one stop on the way through. Today is our invited dress for people who work in the building and then Saturday is our first preview! AH! Its coming so quickly. I can't wait for the public to see this amazing show we have created.

If you wanna snag tickets, go to the Citadel Website via my SHOWS link!

A Week 3 Update

Posted on April 24, 2010 at 10:51 PM

So here I am in Edmonton having almost rounded the 3 week corner. I can't explain in words how amazing this experience at the Citadel has been. This cast is so amazingly talented and I am honored to be with such a solid group.

Today we did our last run through in the rehearsal hall of both acts back to back and the energy in the room was absolutely infectious. Each character and member of the character was fully invested in telling this wonderful story and it made us all get enveloped in the magical world we began to create together only a short 3 weeks ago.

Tomorrow, we move to the stage and theatre and begin a whole new journey into the week of tech and costumes. This week can usually be a trying one as things can move slowly and sometimes fall apart. I feel that this group is so solid and focused that this week will be an absolute breeze!

I will keep you all posted on the goings on of this week. Thanks for reading!

First Week a Hit!

Posted on April 10, 2010 at 12:38 AM

I have almost completed my first week of rehearsals here in Edmonton at the Citadel Theatre. First off, let me tell you, this theatre company is GIGANTIC! There are 3 physical theatres in the buidling and are currently all producing shows. Its so great to be in a building and be able to mingle with other casts working on the other of shows.

Now, back to my show. So as you all know, I am currently in rehearsals for Beauty and the Beast. We started rehearsals on Tuesday and wasted no time jumping into things. The Citadel put this show on two years ago and a lot of the cast is returning which makes the process fly in comparison to a show you have to create from scratch. We learned almost all the ensemble music on the first and second day and jumped right into choreography on Thursday and Friday.

Let me also mention that our cast is INCREDIBLE! I am so honored right now to work with some of the most amazing dancers in the business right now as far as I am concerned. We have picked up so much choreography already (finishing two big numbers in two days is quite a task) and we are already starting to look like a clean ensemble.

I am so proud to be a part of this crew and am looking forward already to the end result.

I'll keep updating you as the rehearsals progress!
